VinylPi Project

Privacy Policy

Effective November 2, 2026

VinylPi is a personal-use music and display project. The Google Calendar and Music Bridge YouTube integrations are optional and require authorization by the Google account holder. The two integrations may use separate Google Cloud OAuth projects.

Google Calendar data

The Calendar integration requests read-only access to Google Calendar data. It may retrieve selected calendar names, event titles, start dates and times, all-day indicators, locations and meeting details. This information is used to show upcoming events on the account holder's private displays and, where configured, estimate driving time. VinylPi does not edit or delete Calendar events.

YouTube data and actions

Music Bridge may access YouTube information authorized by the account holder, search for music videos, create playlists, and add videos to those playlists. It may locally retain playlist identifiers, matched video metadata, job progress, and error information to support retries, quota delays and user-requested playlist management. It does not publicly share playlists unless the account holder selects a public visibility setting or otherwise publishes them through YouTube.

Storage and access

Authorized credentials and operational data are stored locally on the account holder's privately managed devices or their configured storage. Calendar data may be cached for display; Music Bridge may retain playlist job records and metadata. The project site itself does not request Google login or collect Google data. The local services are not intended as a publicly accessible account service.

Sharing and third parties

VinylPi does not sell Google user data or use it for advertising. Data is transmitted to Google APIs to perform the requested Calendar and YouTube operations. Local device data may be displayed to the account holder, and notifications about playlist jobs may be sent through services explicitly configured by the account holder. Google services are governed by Google's own policies.

Control and deletion

The account holder may revoke VinylPi's access at any time through Google Account third-party connections. Local cached data, playlist job history, and credentials can be removed from the account holder's installation. Revoking access does not automatically delete any playlists already created on YouTube; those can be managed in YouTube.

Contact

For questions about these integrations or this policy, use the VinylPi GitHub issue tracker. Do not post personal calendar events, access tokens, or other sensitive information in public issues.

Use of information received from Google APIs is subject to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including applicable Limited Use requirements.
